The Village of Glendale is unique as one of America's earliest known planned subdivisions laid out in a curvilinear plan according to topography. It was settled in the 1850s as one of the first railroad commuter towns. Its ambiance is enhanced by quiet, tree-lined curvilinear streets, gas lamps, and numerous parks. As a designated National Landmark Historic District, the Village is home to over 400 houses and other buildings well over a century old.
